The CEO of the company I work for said today that our Brazil division “recently sponsored the lunar eclipse.”
This has to be a first for the moon, selling out like that to a corporation. I understand that lunar upkeep is costly, but is this really the depths to which the moon-owners need to stoop?
Instead, I’m home drinking wine with my husband and one of my best friends. (And four dogs.) That works for me.

Please don’t think me a snob, but this post is about how hard it is to find a good car service to the airport. I know, take a cab, Vander. But cab drivers always hassle me about paying with a credit card, and when I travel for work, I like to lay out as little personal cash as possible. Car services are used to credit card payments. Plus, the car usually doesn’t smell like someone else’s hygiene issues or week-old lunch.

Today’s calendar date is supposed to be something special. But this is what I’ve seen:
A headline that shouldn’t even have to be a headline: “Clinton Says She Wants Obama to Win the White House”
John Edwards had an affair. John Edwards had an affair while my good friend Elizabeth was battling cancer.
Georgia and Russia are at war, but the Edwards news is somehow more important.
Another great Yahoo! resigned. We’ll miss you, Lisandro.
But at least I can wish my friend Matt a happy birthday. Happy Birthday, Matt! You deserve a great day.
First off, thanks to everyone for the well wishes for Chris. We saw an ENT doc today, and we should be past the worst of it. If anyone really likes stories of pus and blood and abnormal surgical instruments, let me know. For the rest of you, I’ll just keep you posted on whether today’s procedure did the trick.
As promised, I am editing my book this summer. I have some time this evening, with Chris and his Vicodin snoozing in the other room, some evening sunshine spilling onto the patio, and a bottle of Porter Creek beside me.
